The death of Mrs. Gertrude Amy (Bunn) Davidson occurred at 6:25 Wednesday at her home in Cooperstown at the age of 78. At her bedside when the end came were her 7 children and her only brother Charles W. Bunn who since his retirement has made his home with her.
Mrs. Davidson was stricken with a heart attack on Friday of last week, and suffered a second more severe attack on Monday. She had recovered to the extent that on Tuesday she was conversing with members of her family, and was particularly happy on the arrival by plane that afternoon from San Francisco of her son, Capt. Walter B. Davidson, U.S.N.
Mrs. Davidson was born at Morris on October 16, 1867, one of ten children of Walter Hodge and Amy Shove (Bowne} Bunn. Her father, an attorney-at- law, was a prominent member of the legal profession in Central New York. At one time he was United States Marshal for the Northern District of New York, and on another occasion, Appraiser of the Port of New York under appointment of President Grover Cleveland.
On August 29, 1888, she was married to Clarence W. Davidson, prominent Cooperstown newspaper publisher, at Christ Episcopal Church here. Mr. Davidson was associated with his father, Col. Andrew. Davidson, a veteran of the Civil War in the publication of the Otsego Republican, long a political organ of, the Republican Party in Otsego County until its absorption in January 1911, by The Otsego Farmer. Mr. Davidson passed away March 24, 1924.
Surviving are seven of the nine children born to them, Mrs. Randolph C. Huus of Washington, D. C., Dr. Donald R. Davidson of Hancock, Delaware County, Mrs. Charles A. Clark of Ithaca, Andrew C. Davidson of Port Washington, L. I., Capt Walter B. Davidson of the United States Navy, Mrs. Frank Nelms of Cynwyd, Pa, and Mrs. Robert T. Schmidt of East Rockaway, L. I.
A daughter, Mrs. Charles G. Styles, the former Amy B. Davidson, died January 8, 1919, and a son, Bowne W. Davidson, a veteran of World War I, passed away in 1938. Other survivors include the brother mentioned above, thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davidson was a life-long communicant of Christ Episcopal Church, and was a member of Otsego Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution here. Burial will be in the Davidson family plot in Lakewood cemetery
