Dr. Bedell Dies Of Fractured Skull On Danis Stairway.
A wedding anniversary gathering in Mill Hall ended in tragedy early this morning when Dr. Elmont Wendell Bedell, 61, of Metuchen, NJ, husband of the former Bess Hunter of Mill Hall, accidently fell down the stairs of the Dewey F. Danis home and died of a fractured skull.
Dr. and Mrs. Bedell came here Saturday to join Mr. and Mrs. Danis in celebration of their 26th wedding anniversary yesterday. The women are sisters.
They spent the day in the usual anniversary observances, and went to Mill Hall's festival last evening. During the night, about 1:35 a.m., Dr. Bedell got up, and in a strange house apparently became lost in the dark and fell down the stairs.
Death was termed accidental by Mrs. W.J. Shoemaker, coroner.
Dr. Bedell had been a practicing dentist in Perth Amboy, N.J., for the past 36 years. He was a member of the Episcopal Church, the Masonic Lodge and the B.P.O.E.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Benjamin F., and two daughters, Mrs. Borge Hansen and Miss Clara, and one granddaughter, all of Metuchen.
The body will be taken to the Bert Bedell Funeral Home at Staten Island, N.Y. for services. Burial will be made in the Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island.
