October 3, 2011:
Richard "Dickie" Maddox quit smoking today. He passed away at his home, after fighting Lung Cancer, on October 3, 2011.
Dickie, a native Callawegian, was a passionate hunter and fisherman and a pretty darn good story teller.
Dickie was born on December 19, 1946, in Fulton, the son of Richard and Estella (Wilson) Maddox, who both preceeded him in death.
His wife of thirty-nine years, Shirley, survives him. Also surviving him is a daughter, Tonya Maddox (Andrew) Cupp of Indianapolis, Indiana, a son, R. Travis Maddox of Fulton, granddaughters, Laney and Brooklyn and a grandson, Colton.
Sixty-five year old Dickie was also preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Maddox.
Memorial services celebrating Dickie's life will be held at Maupin Funeral Home at 11:00am, on Thursday, October 6, 2011 with Gary Maddox officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you plant a tree to honor Dickie's love of nature.
The Tombstone picture is his parents stone per Christina C.
