Enlisted March 10, 1863, captured at Baker's Creek, MS on May 16, 1863. Paroled at Ft. Delaware, Del., July 4, 1863. Exchanged at City Point, Va., July 16, 1863. Pension records show him wounded in the back, right lung and shoulder. Wounded and permanently disabled at New Hope Church, Ga., May 25, 1864. Buried at Cool Springs Baptist Cemetery, Hall Co., Ga.

A [CSA Veteran] buried at Cool Springs Cemetery, Hall Co., Ga. Headstone reads: 2 years Confederate Army, ordained deacon and last charter member of Cool Springs Church.
