Cupid Stirs Aged, Too

Nicalaus Braack, 65 Years Old,
Weds Sister-in-Law, 68.

A Short Time Ago His Daughter Was Married
and It Is Believed That the Event
Made the Father Sentimental—Knot Tied
on Saturday Evening.

Nighbors [sic] say that it was the marriage of his youngest [sic] daughter, Anna, a month ago, which turned the attention of 65-year-old Nicalaus Braack of No. 229 Hier avenue toward things matrimonial, but whether or not such is the fact, it is certain that Saturday evening made him a benedict for the second time, his bride being Mrs. Sophie Boysen, the sister of his first wife, and three years his senior.

Nicalaus Braack was born and brought up in the province of Gettdorf, Germany, and in the same town lived two pretty sisters, Anna [sic; Dorothea] and Sophie Prehn. Young Nicalaus fell in love with Anna [Dora] and they were married and came to America, where in due time, Sophie married and followed them. Chance led the two families to Syracuse where they have lived up to the present time.

Five years ago Mrs. Braack died and his sister-in-law, Sophie, herself left a widow, came to live with him, to keep the house and look after the younger children. The home was an exceptionally happy one, and "Aunt Sophie" kept the trim cottage in apple pie order.

Last month Anna, the youngest daughter [sic?], was married to John Prehn, a near neighbor, and it is believed that this put it into her father's head to follow her example. At all events it happened that last Saturday night Mr. Braack and Mrs. Boysen went to the Rev. J. Brockelmann, pastor of the Mt. Tabor church and had the nuptial knot tied, and then came home and imparted the news to their children. Neither Mr. nor Mrs. Braack was at home this afternoon when a Herald reporter called, but a member of the family said that they would make their home at No. 229 Hier avenue.
