Columbia – Dr. Robert Lee Meriwether, head of the South Carolina Library and former head of the history department at the University of South Carolina, died Sunday. He was 68.
Meriwether suffered a coronary thrombosis while en route to his home here from his mountain camp on the Keowee River in Pickens County.
Funeral services will be held in the library at 11 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. R. Bryee Herbert. Burial will be in Meriwether Cemetery in the deceased's native county of Allendale (sic).
