Funeral service for Homer F. Welch Jr., 76, Beasley Drive, DeLand, who died Mon., Aug. 27, 2007, at Florida Hospital DeLand, will be 11 a.m. Fri., Aug. 31, at The Church of God in Prophecy, DeLeon Springs, with the Revs. Charles Sheridan and Jesse Roland officiating. Burial will be in Pinehurst Cemetery, DeLeon Springs. Calling hours are Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, DeLand.

Mr. Welch was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Tifton, Ga., and moved here in 1971 from Texas. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years as a Tech Sergeant serving in Vietnam. After retirement, he was a subcontractor in the construction industry in the DeLand area. He was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy, DeLeon Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Delorise Welch, DeLand; three sons, Paul Steven Welch, DeLand, Glen Dale Welch, DeLand, and Dean Patrick Welch, Ocala; two stepsons, Vernon Warner, Hortense, Ga., and William Warner, Waycross, Ga.; daughter, Mary Ann Manry, Guelph, Canada; three stepdaughters, Arline Clemmons, Hortense, Susan Clemmons, Waycross, and Betty Tyson, Darien, Ga.; three brothers, W. L. Welch, DeLand, Gene Welch, DeLand, and Donald Welch, Moultrie, Ga.; five sisters, Ola Bell Purvis, DeLand, Jimmie Ruth Wilkes, DeLeon Springs, Shirley Fay Hunter, DeLeon Springs, Linda Gasperson, DeLand, and Cindy Maskell, Crawfordville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Brenda Jean Welch, and his daughter, Audrea Jean Welch.

Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
