Thomas Hunt Armistead, 87, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011, in Fort Worth, Texas.

The funeral service was held Monday, October 3, at eleven o'clock in the morning in First Presbyterian Church, 425 North Main Street, Water Valley. Interment, with military honors, followed the service in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley. Seven Oaks Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements. A memorial service was also held in Fort Worth Friday, September 30.

Born September 28, 1923 in Memphis, Mr. Armistead was a son of the late Eldridge Armistead and Rowena Pate Armistead. He grew up in Water Valley and attended Mississippi State College. He served for three years in the Army as a Sergeant in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge, for which he received the Bronze Star and a Combat Medic Badge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldridge Armistead, Jr. and Robert Pate Armistead, and grandparents, Robert Reynolds Pate and Rowena Mabry Pate.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Morgan Armistead of Fort Worth; a son, Henry Hunt Armistead of Austin, Texas, three nieces and three nephews.
