Henry was a Conferate Soldier. The tombstone was purchased by his son James Wesley Griggs and his grandsons James Lonnie Griggs and Henry Walker Griggs erected the stone one Saturday morning about 1925. It reads: "Company 'D' 26th S.C. Infanty, Confederate Service Army." All that is known thus far is approximate birth and death dates and places. Family lore says that "Henry was from Monroe, N.C. Later moved to Cason-Olfield in Chesterfield County, S.C. Married Helen Jabos about 1867, who died in August 1867 in childbirth at age 17. Henry died three years after his wife," cause unknown.
