ROTTERDAM Norman Thomas Brockett, 81, of Floral Ave., passed away Monday, November 26, 2007 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Schenectady on August 27, 1926, he was the son of Edward and Anna Marie Fuller Brockett. A longtime employee, as a steam fitter/plumber, of General Electric Co., Norman retired in 1986. He was an active member of BPOE #2480 Guilderland Elks, a member of the Tri-City Sam's RV Club, a member and former secretary of the Capital District Trailer Club, a member and formerly on the board of directors of Camp Woodstock. Norman was also a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Scotia. Norman enjoyed trailering with friends and being in the great outdoors. He spent many enjoyable times watching his granddaughter and grandson participate in sporting events. Norman looked forward to his morning coffee with fellow Elks. He was an avid NASCAR fan and always enjoyed watching races even during periods of illness. Mostly, he loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Anna Webster Brockett, whom he married on October 3, 1948; three children, Kathleen (Jay) Baron, Sandra (Joseph) Bellomo and Janet (the late Dennis) Bennett; one brother, Edgar Brockett; grandfather of Matthew (Lindsay) Baron and Roseann Bellomo. Norman is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Clinton Brockett. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Scotia, Reynolds St., Scotia. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam. Memorial contributions may be made in Norman's name to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 or American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Albany, NY 12211.
