US Congressman. Elected to represent Virginia's 5th and 6th Districts in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1845 to 1847, and 1859 to 1861. Also served as a Member of the Virginia State Legislature in 1842, and Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 1851.
