She was united in marriage to David K. Johansen, July 9, 1960, at the Elm Creek Methodist Church and to this union two children, Kent and Renee were born.

Upon completion of high school, Bonnie was employed at Rockwell Mfg. Co, Kearney in Kearney until her marriage to David. Together they made their home briefly in Kearney before moving to Santa Clara, California and South Ogden, Utah before returning to Nebraska in 1970. In her spare time, Bonnie enjoyed reading, spending time entertaining her family and especially her grandkids, nieces and nephews. Upon learning that she would be fighting a battle with the big "C", Bonnie set out a "bucket list" of things she wanted to do. One of which was visiting Graceland in Memphis, for she was an ardent fan of Elvis and especially spending extra time with her extended family. She enjoyed watching the crane migration each year.
