US Senator. Elected to the United States Senate on November 4, 1930 to fill a vacancy caused by the resignation of Frederic M. Sackett. He served until March 3, 1931 and was not a candidate for election to the full term. A native of Pike County, Kentucky, he is best remembered as a member of the Kentucky Crippled Children's Commission. He was one of the founding members and served as its president from 1924 until his death in 1941. He was also engaged in several business ventures, including banking and the coal mining industry. He died in Cincinnati, Ohio when he was 76 years old.
