His parents were Kapriel and Anna Davidyan of Turkey in the Ottoman Empire. Gamaliel was a merchant and connoisseur of Oriental rugs. Mr. Davidyan came to New York, arriving on October 17, 1887 on the ship Aurania (unsure if this was his first arrival). He became a naturalized U.S. citizen on March 21, 1889 in New York City and entered the rug trade there prior to 1898. He he moved to Philadelphia and was in business there from 1903. He was a Mason, an honorary member of the Martin J. Glendon Post of the V.F.W., and a member of the Baptist Temple. He lived at 1931 N. Broad Street. He was survived by his wife Florance, son Gail, and a son and daughter from his first marriage. A son Huyler predeceased him. At his death he lived at 1931 N. Broad Street in Philadelphia and died of chronic myocarditis, specifically mitral and aortic stenosis.
