Born October 6, 1925 in Big Soldier, Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Matthew and Esther M. (Laverick) Leiberton.
On November 6, 1947 she married Pat Battaglia. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Esther was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by five children, Max (Hazel) Battaglia of Fairfield, California, Dennis (Gwen) Battaglia of Brookville, Mrs. Jud (Deborah) Sommer of Bethesda, MD, Mrs. Steve ( Vicki) McCracken of Brookville, and Mrs. David "Chip" (Rosemary) Wonderling of Brookville.
Preceded in death by her husband and parents, four sisters, infant Gertrude Leiberton, Elizabeth Colwell, Frances Nesbit and Adeline Gould; four brothers, William, James, George and Matthew Leiberton. Esther was the last surviving member of her family.
Friends were received at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Brookville.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Mick Chittester.
Interment was in Reynoldsville Cemetery.
