U.S. Congressman. Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Pennsylvania Military College, in 1922, from Dickinson School of Law, in 1925, was admitted to the bar in 1926 and commenced to practice law in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He was assistant district attorney of Fayette County, (1928-32) and Mayor of Uniontown, (1938-41). During World War II, he served as a Major in the US Army Ordnance Corps, in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he was elected as a Republican to the Eightieth Congress, serving (1947-49). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law, was recalled to active duty with the US Army Ordnance Corps in 1951 and served as chief of the legislative coordination branch until 1956. He became regional administrator, Securities and Exchange Commission, Washington, D.C., serving (1957-64) and served on the Pennsylvania Zoning Board and the Parks Commission. He died at age 72 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
