U.S. Congressman. He attended Madison College, graduated from Monongahela College, in 1891 and then was editor of the Uniontown and the Uniontown Democrat, in 1892. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1895 and commenced to practice law in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He was a delegate to the Democratic State conventions, (1898- 1900, 04). In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, serving until 1915. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law and was Postmaster of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, (1934-47). He then lived in retirement until his death at age 82.
