US Congressman. A member of the Republican Party, he served in the US House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 23rd district for one term from 1951 until 1953. Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania he moved with his parents to Uniontown, Pennsylvania as an infant. After graduating from Brown University at Providence, Rhode Island in 1930, he worked as a salesman for an ice cream company from 1931 to 1937, after which he became a became field underwriter for Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York. In 1934 he was elected to the Uniontown School Board and served as its president in 1936 and 1937. In February 1943 he enlisted as a private in the US Army, serving in the Ordnance Corps in the European Theater of Operations during World War II until released to the Inactive Reserve as a captain in August 1946. After returning to the US he became mayor of Uniontown from 1948 until 1951. In 1950 he was elected as a Republican to Congress, defeating incumbent Democratic Congressman Anthony Cavalcante. In 1952 he was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection when re-districting forced him into an election against incumbent Democratic Congressman Thomas E. Morgan in the 26th district. From 1960 until 1972 he served as Republican State committeeman for Fayette County, Pennsylvania and was the minority Fayette County Commissioner from 1968 until 1971. He died in Uniontown at the age of 70.
