U.S. Congressman. He attended South Georgia College and served as county school superintendent of Appling County, (1916-18). He graduated from Emory University, in 1922, was superintendent of schools at Tennille, Georgia, (1922-24) and president of South Georgia Junior College (1924-27). He also engaged in farming, real estate development (1927-28), plus was editor and proprietor of the Alma Times. In 1933, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third, Seventy-fourth and Seventy-fifth Congresses, serving until 1939. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he was an insurance broker and cattle farmer, until his death at age 88.
