He enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 15. He also served in the U.S. Navy in 1953-1954. Bud was a Teamster truck driver for 42 years, driving over 2 million miles for three different companies . He was a self-made man who enjoyed sharing life with his wife, children, family, and friends. Bud helped many people in his lifetime!
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Abney (Jesse), Betty Stahl (Joe), Beverly Jimenez (Javier); two sons, Keith Abney and Robert Abney; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Abney; two sisters, Fern Lewis (Elmer), Sharon Davis (Joe); two brothers-in-law, Byron Redmon (Jan), Milfred (Bill) Stewart; three sisters-in-law, Annabeth Redmon, Emma "Snooks" Redmon, and Delores "Tootie" Redmon; 17 grandchildren, Matthew, Justin (Holly), Zachary, Shawna (Leonal), Jason (Jessica), Jeremy (Marlen), Angel, Chad, Lindley, Jackie (Patrick), Connie (Barry), Ezariah (Cindy) Shannon, Brandi, Danielle, Joey, Nate and 35 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Abney; his parents; three sisters; one brother; and three brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes, Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson St. with Dr. Mike Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the Kokomo V.F.W. Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
