U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the Philadelphia Medical College and commenced to practice medicine in 1810. During the War of 1812, he served as a Captain in the Georgia Volunteers, U.S. Army. After the war, he was a member of the Georgia State House of Representatives, (1818-26). In 1827, he was elected as a Jacksonian candidate to the Twentieth Congress, serving until 1829. After his term he resumed the practice of medicine and was president of the State Bank of Georgia, from 1832, until his death at age 71.
