Barbara A. Kieser of Longmont, Colo., formerly of Pekin, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at Applewood Living Center. She was 68.
Barbara was born on Jan. 6, 1943, in Peoria Heights, Ill., the daughter of Roy and Eva (Luthi) Gillott. She was raised in central Illinois and attended high school in Canton, Ill.
Barbara married Carl Kieser on Jan. 18, 1970, in East Peoria, Ill.
She worked in Elder Care in Illinois and in Renton, Wash., from 1989 to 2002. Barbara moved to Longmont in 2004 from Illinois.
Barbara was a lifelong Christian. Lilacs were her favorite flower and lavender was her favorite color.
Barbara always thought of others before herself and it was evidenced in the love and attention that she showered on her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a half brother, Roy Bud Gillott Jr.
Barbara is survived by her son, John Kieser (Michelle) of Longmont; two brothers, Robert Gillott (Linda) of Washington and Fred Gillott (Barbara) of Montana; three sisters, Lila Rogers (Harold), Rose Warsaw (John) and Sandy David (Vern), all of Illinois; five grandchildren, Noah, Isaac, Sarah, Gabriel and Elijah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, with a funeral service beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Rocky Mountain Bible Baptist Church. Interment will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
