Lloyd S., 69, of Henrico, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Nazareth Akers. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary L. Akers; his mother, Lucy E. Akers; his mother-in-law, Shirley Ford; sisters, Ellen Overby, Peggy Bareford, Sally Davis; several special nieces and nephews, Bobbie Jo Downey, Christy Spain, Melissa Miller, Nancy Sheets, Wendy Davis and Craig and Brian Davis; his special canine companion, Ella. Lloyd was a loving and dedicated son, who always provided for his mother. He owned and operated Akers Automotive, located at 25th and Main, for over 25 years. He was a member of Howertons Baptist Church in Howertons. Lloyd enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his friends from Dragon Hunt Club. The family will receive friends from 4-8, Saturday, October 8, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, where Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, October 9. Interment will follow at Howertons Baptist Church Cemetery, 3875 Essex Mill Road, Howertons, VA.
