Funeral services for Verna Edgar Jones, 2309 Henry, who died at his residence at 10 p.m. Saturday will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Sorrells & Sons funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Fred Moore officiating. Burial will be in Williams Chapel cemetery in Lone Oak.
Mr. Jones was born July 1, 1894 the son of Joe and Minnie Jones. He had lived in Greenville and Hunt County most of his life. A member of the Methodist Church, Mr. Jones was a retired carpenter and L&A railway employee. He married Vera Elliott on November 21, 1913.
Survivors include his widow, his mother; three sons, Earl W. Jones of Arlington, Va., Verna Dale Jones of Buerna Park, Calif., and Bob Jones of Millington, Tenn.; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd Reynolds of Fort Worth, Mrs. John Edgar of Garrison, Tex., Mrs. Thomas Crouch of Henderson, Tex., and Mrs. B. B. Parker of Denver City, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. D. A. Hunt Lone Oak, and Mrs. R. C. Napier of Arlington, Tex.; 21 grandchildren, 11 great grand children, and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Grady Hunt, Willie Warren, A. Z. Puckett, John Weatherley, J. C. Patterson, and Joe Scott.
*NOTE* Although headstone has birth date of July 1, 1895 his death certificate lists year of birth as 1894.
