Albert was the seventh of nine children. He was a lumber manufacturer in Portsmouth and Bay City, salt well owner in Bay County and St. Clair County, developer of 1400 acres of Pte. Tremble Prairie in St. Clair County, and owner of the steamer Albert Miller which burned off Pte. Au Sable in 1882.
