EUGENE F. ABEL
Eugene F. Abel, 72, of Marlette, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2003 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan.
He was born on August 9, 1931 in Marlette, the son of the late Fred and Martha (Gorsline) Abel.
He was a lifelong area resident. He worked for 30 years as a pipe fitter for General Motors, Pontiac and he was a lifetime area farmer.
He married Sally Karen on December 9, 1950 in Pontiac, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; three daughters, Darlene and Herb Lawson, Rogers City, Marlene and Ken French, Marlette and Linda and Ken Miller, Metamora; three sons, Frederick and Gloria Abel, Marlette, Edward and Pamela Abel, Alaska and Gary and Pam Abel, Brown City; a brother, Gus Abel, Cass City; two sisters, Shirley Partaka, Ubly and Nelda Green, Brown City; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Violet, Grace and Beverly.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. Elroy Gilmore, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Marlette Cemetery.
Casketbearers include grandchildren Jason Jackson, Nicholas French, Ryan French, Anthony Abel, Adam Abel, Eli Miller, Ariane Cumper, Ashley Abel, Wendi Claypool, Kalynne Abel, Emily Miller, Colleen Abel, Alex Abel and Megan Abel.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
