Leland Dotson Webb was the son of Charles Webb & Idella May Dotson. He attended Webb school in 1898 & Mason Sr high in 1907 & 1908, On Nov. 4, 1908 he joined the Navy and made it his career. He was subsequently serving in about every class of vessel afloat except destroyers. He graduated from Massachusetts institute of technology and later took a post graduate coarse at the Naval academy. He became Capt. & Commander of the Navy, serving in Hawaii for three tours of duty. He returned to California to inspect Douglas Aircraft after completing his third tour of duty. He served on the carrier Lexington in 1928-29 & Sr squadron commander in 1934. He want to Fort Myer, Va and joined 3ed Co. & Bureau of aeronautic of the navy dept. in various capacities. It was from duties there that he came to the fleet air base in 1937.
