Librarian. Annie Spencer Cutter (1877-1957) was a teacher and librarian at the Cleveland Public Library who worked to establish collections and spaces specifically for young readers at the junior and senior high school level, and extended libraries into city schools by organizing the libraries and selecting the librarians. During World War I she set up a library for soldiers in France. She was president of the Mather Advisory Council from 1945-1948, and was awarded honorary doctorates from both Western Reserve University and Wooster College. She is remembered with a residence hall, Cutter House, at Case Western Reserve University. The plaque on the building reads "ANNIE SPENCER CUTTER, HH.D., 1877-1957, B.L. The College for Women 1899, President, The Advisory Council of Flora Stone Mather College 1945-1948." Her niece, Anne, married Charles Lindbergh.
