Funeral services for Mr. Paul W. Gabbard, 87, of Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2P.M. on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, Tennessee. The family will gather at 2 P.M. on Friday at Deaton Funeral Home in Jackson, Kentucky, with burial to follow in the Gabbard Cemetery in Athol, Kentucky.
The Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 P.M. -9 P.M., and Thursday from 12 noon until time of services.
He passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 8, 1926, in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, to the late Bishop Harvey Gabbard and Dorcas Virginia Short Gabbard. On May 26, 1952, he was married to the late Gertrude Chrisman Gabbard, who passed away November 12, 2010. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 32 years, and was of the Lutheran faith. He served in the U.S. Army during WW11.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother; Lee Alan Gabbard; and his grandfather Morrow Gabbard.
Survivors include 2 sons; Paul H. (Krista) Gabbard of Traverse City, Michigan, and John D. (Tammy) Gabbard of Gainesboro, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren; Justin Pl (Vanessa) Gabbard and Kaitlyn Gabbard; and 2 Great Grandchildren; Jackson Paul Gabbard and McCoy Warren Gabbard.
Bro. Jerry Young will officiate at the services.



Paul W. Gabbard enlisted in the Military April 21, 1944 Fort Thomas, Kentucky. The term of enlistment was for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law. Military has his education of 2 years of high school.
