Elizabeth was the daughter of Isaac and Tatiana (Nekrasov) Hubley, her father was from Nova Scotia, Canada and her mother was Alaskan. Elisabeth grew up in Unga Village, Unga Island, Shumagin Islands, Alaska. Her siblings were: Irina, James, Isaac, Mary, John, Alexandra, Katherine, and William.

Elizabeth first married Albert Sargent in June 1905, they had one child, Mabel. She second married Helmer Oberg, 8 May 1912, in Unga Village. Their children were: Tatiana, Catherine, Helmer, Arvid, Howard, Elizabeth and Florence.

Elizabeth and her husband Hilmer moved to Wasilla, Matanuska Valley, Alaska, with their children. Widowed by 1940, Elizabeth lived in Wasilla working as a cook for a mining company. In her later years she moved to Bellingham, Washington.
