Irma Jean (Porter) Otis, passed away peacefully on her 90 birthday Sunday. She was born in Beattyville on September 12, 1920, the daughter of Ed and Gorda Strong Porter. Mrs. Otis spent most of her adult life in Illinois, where she was a longtime resident of Chicago suburb of Bridgeview. She worked at 3M both there and later in Delaware, Ohio. After her retirement, she returned to her beloved hills of Kentucky. She was a member of the Baptist Church, Eastern Star, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Republican Party. Mrs. Otis was preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth Mokrzycki and her sister Joann Dennis. She is survived by two sisters Elizabeth Roncevich of Frankfort and Margaret Beaver of Oklahoma; two sons, Charles J. (Vicki) Otis and Robert (Kathy) Coggins; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 10am Friday, September 17, at the Lee County Care and Rehab, in Beattyville, Kentucky. Arrangements by Newman funeral Home. Irma was cremated and buried in the same plot with her mother and sister Edna Joann.
