Missouri Ann Mayes married John Daniel Perdue on January 5, 1864. Family tradition is that Missouri Ann rode to where John Perdue was being held prisoner during the Civil War and secured his release.

To this union, five known children were born:

1. Queen Elizabeth Perdue

2. William Green Perdue (b. 27 Feb 1866 in Sumner Co., TN and d. 03 Jul 1903) - M. Eddie Conyers.

3. Evangia Lee Perdue (19 Oct 1868 in Sumner Co., TN and d. 1944) - M. John F. Anthony on 27 Dec. 1885.

4. Ella Harriet Perdue

5. Carrie Ann Perdue (b. 03 Jun 1871 in Sumner Co., TN and d. 20 Jul 1904) - M. Richard L. Powell on 14 Sep 1890.
