LANCASTER, Wis. -- Goldie Ann (Brandemuehl) Burr, 86, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barbara Cook officiating. An Eastern Star service will be at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home, Lancaster, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1925, in Lancaster, daughter of Carl and Nellie Brandehmuehl. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1943 and then attended college at University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Goldie married her high school sweetheart, Robert O. Burr, on Nov. 23, 1946, in Lancaster; he preceded her in death.
She was a longtime employee of the Lancaster school system and worked at the Winskill Elementary School.
Goldie and Bob enjoyed singing at family gatherings and social events. She loved visiting with family and friends as well as bowling, golfing, camping, travel and playing euchre.
She was a lifelong member of United Methodist Church in Lancaster, a member of the Eastern Star Lodge, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her three sons, Dennis Burr, of Lancaster, Mark (Teri) Burr, of Aurora, Colo., and James (Jane) Burr, of Littleton, Colo.; a grandson, Trevor Burr, of Littleton; three stepgrandsons, Jason Poffenbarger, of Westminster, Colo., Eric Roberts, of Denver, and Michael Roberts, of Golden, Colo.; and sisters-in-law, Mary (Schwantes) Brandemuehl and Marsha (Houghton) Burr, both of Lancaster, and Retha (Grebe) Brandemuehl, of Milwaukee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Nellie Brandemuehl; her husband, Robert O. Burr; brothers, Robert, Lyus, Donald and James; and sisters, Beatrice (Earl) Hoffman, Carol (Eddie) Wofford and Gladys (Tom) Perich.
