Eva Juanita Shipman

Juanita Shipman passed from this life to join with our Lord on Sunday morning, October 17, 2010, following a chronic illness. She was born on the 29th of October, 1924, in Galloway, MO.
Faced with being a widow at a young age, Juanita worked quite hard and was very successful at providing for her daughter and raising her with love and respect. She worked most recently at MSU in the admissions office, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Central Christian Church where she sang in the choir and was active in CWF for over 40 years. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and served a term as President.
Juanita is survived by her husband, J.T. Shipman, daughter Beverly (Rick) Manaois, St. Louis, MO; stepdaughter Terry (Chuck) Oheim; stepson Gene Shipman, Springfield and sister, Wilma (Norman) Gerhart, Springfield. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Philip (Melissa) Manaois, St. Louis, Pete Manaois, Tampa, FL, Lisa (Tim) Potthoff and David Oheim, both of the Springfield area, and great grandchildren Tony and Megan Manaois, St. Louis.
Her parents, Loyal and Nellie Lee Jinks, and her first husband Leland Ball preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 21 at Central Christian Church, 1475 North Washington, in Springfield with the Reverends John F. Andrews and Don Brown officiating. Burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Sparta, MO at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
