Evan Ellsworth was born Oct. 5, 1891 on the homestead four miles east of Langdon and died at the same place January 15, 1915 at the age of 23 years, 3 months and 23 days. His whole life was spent with his parents on the old homestead with the exception of three years of his childhood when the family lived in Gillespie County, Texas. He was therefore well known in this community and little need be said of his life and character. He was a quiet home boy, steady, honest and upright and a hard worker.

His friends are numbered by his acquaint-ances, and he is greatly missed in the community and especially in the home. He leaves a father and mother, two brothers and two sisters to mourn his departure, two brothers and one sister having preceded him.

During his last illness he realized that his time here was short and expressed his willingness to go, saying, "Mother tells me there is a home that is better than this and I am going there." He acknowledged his faith in Christ and requested baptism but the pastor was away and before another minister could be called, death claimed him.

The funeral was conducted at the Methodist Church at Arlington by B.W. Folsom, the Methodist pastor in Landgon, who spoke these words of Christ to the Widow's son at Nain: "Young man, I say unto thee, arise." Internment was made in Arlington cemetery.

Call not back the dear departed,
Anchored safe where storms are o'er,
On the border land we left him,
Soon to meet and part no more.

When we leave this world of changes,
When we leave this world of care,
We shall find our missing loved one,
In our Father's Mansion fair.
