Blood and a companion, Paul Farmer, were enroute from Encampment and were riding in a car which they had borrowed from Harry Kuege, another employee at the McMicken ranch. They had stopped at the Bert Hanson ranch on Cow creek bench to leave Blood's brother, employed at that place, and who had accompanied them to Encampment. Coming on toward Saratoga, about 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning, Blood failed to negotiate the sharp curve in the highway just south of the Brush creek turn off.
It is said the car plunged off the road and came to rest on its top, and Blood's skull was fractured in the crash. Except for several bumps and bruises, Farmer was not injured.
Marvin Blood was 27 years of age. He was born in Little Rock, Wisconsin, June 23, 1912. He had been working in this valley for several months, and of late had been at the McMicken ranch.
Funeral services were held last Monday afternoon, Rev. Arthur Campbell in charge, and interment was in the local cemetery. He is survived by his father, Samuel M. Blood of Springfield, Mo. four brothers, and one sister.
