LITTLE RIVER | Donald Dewey Rowland, 82, of Little River and former 58 year resident of Fairfax, Virginia, died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Born on October 16, 1924 in Boomer Den, Cocke County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late George Washington and Maude Ellen Shetley Rowland. He was a graduate of Boomer School in Cocke County, Tenn.

Mr. Rowland is survived by one son, Steven Rowland (Joan) of Hartwood, Va.; three daughters, Jean Pitner (Sperry) of Little River, Donna Watts (Don) of Goose Creek, S.C., and Patricia LeMay (Burke) of McLoud, Okla.; three brothers, Ralph, Franklin and Cecil Rowland; one sister, Virginia Feehan; a brother-in-law, Arthur Magner (Marion); 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends in Little River.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Claude, Fred, Daulton and Edward; and four sisters, Omie, Pearl, Jewel and Clara. Mr. Rowland was predeceased by his wife, Nora A. Rowland.

Funeral services will be held in Fairfax, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice of Horry County, PO Box 50640, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579. Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family with local arrangements.
