LYONS - Fred L Taylor, president of the Taylor Lumber and Implement Co, died at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday in the Lyons hospital, after suffering a stroke four days ago.
Mr Taylor was born March 12, 1885 in Lyons; married Mrs Opal Wooddell in Hutchinson in August 1921. He was a member of the Methodist church, Kiwanis Club, 32nd degree Mason; had been president of the Rice County chaper of Society for Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America and was vice-preseident of the Central States division of the group. He was a former president of the Western Retail Implement and Hardware Association.
Mr Taylor sang in the Methodist church choir for 53 years; was a church trustee and choir lead for 35 years. He was president of the Lyons school board for 30 years.
Survivors are the widow, Opal, of the home; five daughters, Mrs Inez Cassidy, Glen Ellyn, Ill; Mrs Alice Purkapile, Mrs Virginia Myers and Mrs Ruth Mitchell, all of Lyons and Mrs Blythe Smith, Denver; three brothers, Roy R, Mel H and Glen C, all of Lyons and seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Lyons Methodist church with Rev W W Owen officiating. Burial will be in Lyons cemetery.
