My heart goes out to the family.....when I worked at a police department in the same area, we worked closely with Walker PD.

"Walker Car 7344.........Walker Car 7344.... No answer from Walker Car 7344 -- Officer 355 Ended his watch Thursday, October 13th, 2011. Officer Trevor Slot you have ended your tour of duty here..... Walker car 7344 you are officially 10-42"

Officer Slot was killed when he was attempting to put out stop sticks near 8th Avenue/96 in attempts to stop a suspect vehicle (bank robbery out of Ravenna, MI). The suspect vehicle hit Officer Slot


Officer Slot served Walker for 9 years and previously served Lowell (MI) for 5. He also had been employed with St. Joseph (MI).

The suspects were later shot and killed.

He is survived by his wife, Kim, who is a teacher at a local school, and two children.





SLOT - Trevor Slot, age 41, of Grand Rapids, was called home by God to Heaven on Thursday, October 13, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Jack and Suzanne Slot. Trevor is survived by his loving wife, Kim, and beloved children, Katelyn and Abigail Slot; his brother, Chris and Cari Slot; sister, Erika and Paul TenEyck; niece and nephew, Faith and Jackson TenEyck; father-in-law and mother in-law, Craig and Mary Huizen; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, Jennifer and Kevin Johnson, Todd and Marissa Huizen; nieces, Samantha and Audrey Huizen; and grandmother-in-law, Marilyn Poll. Trevor was an enthusiastic sports fanatic, and enjoyed cheering on the Wolverines, Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings. He adored his daughters, and all the precious time he shared with them. Trevor was a huge support as a husband and best friend to his wife, Kim. Trevor was a devoted Police Officer with the Walker Police Department. The family would like to extend their appreciation and thankfulness for all the support given during this difficult time. Visitation will be at Third Reformed Church, 2060 Michigan NE. The public may pay respects Wednesday and Thursday, October 19 and 20, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. The Slot family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Law enforcement visitation will begin Tuesday, 12 noon through Wednesday, 12 noon; the public will also be allowed entrance during this 24 hour period. A funeral worship service for family and friends will be held Friday morning. A full honors public funeral service will be at Resurrection Life Church, 5100 Ivanrest SW Grandville, on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 1 p.m. The service will be followed by the funeral procession through downtown Walker to the committal service at Rosedale Cemetery, 0-50 Lake Michigan Drive NW, Grand Rapids.
