OBITUARY: Death Takes Victor Carlson

One of our local boys, Victor A. Carlson, passed away Monday evening at his home in Walker. Death came after an illness lasting for several weeks. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, June 6, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Rev. Father Mockler presenting the sermon. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery with the Thomas Funeral Home as director.

Victor Alfred Carlson was born in Walker on July 7, 1904, to Mr. and Mrs. J. Albert Carlson. He attended school in Walker, graduating in 1922 as valedictorian of his class. Many of our citizens prized Victor as one of their early friends and classmates and are indeed sorry to lose him from our midst.

For four years following his graduation from high school he attended St. Thomas College, from which he graduated in 1926 with high honors. Until 1928, Victor held a position of trust as an expert accountant with the Oliver Implement Company, of South Bend, Ind., after which he returned to Walker to assist his father in his business for the remaining years of his life. He was nearing 36 years of age when he died.

Surviving Victor Carlson, are his father, Mr. J. Albert Carlson, two brothers, Norman and Charlie, and a sister, Mrs. Marshall Alexander, besides several Uncles and Aunts.

Relatives from out of town who were present at the funeral were: Mrs. And Mrs. Walter Iverson of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ida Peterson and Mr. Norman Peterson of Duluth, Mr. And Mrs. Frank Grzybek of Bowlus, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Zehoski, Mrs. Louis Zehoski from St. Paul, John and Frank Dobos, of Rice, Minnesota.
