Robert Osmer Whitmer, 86, died at 11:45 pm Monday at the home of his son, C. I. Whitmer, of Nickleville. He had been confined to bed for the past two weeks.

He was born near Callensburg, the son of Samuel and Sarah Shrum Whitmer. He spent the early portion of his life in the oil fields of Ohio, Illinois, Oklahoma, Indiana and West Virginia. In later years Mr. Whitmer operated a farm in Rockland township and for the past seven years had resided with his son at Nickleville.

Mr. Whitmer was a member of Nickleville Presbyterian church. Surviving are two children, C. I. Whitmer, of Nickleville, and Mrs. Annie Ritts, Franklin, R. D. 1, two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Lavina Kennemuth, of Knox, also survives.

The body ha been removed to the Criswell funeral home, Emlenton, where friends may call until 3 pm Wednesday at which time it will be taken in the home of his son where funeral services will be conducted. Rev. J. V. Mountain, pastor of Nickleville Presbyterian church, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mark's cemetery.
