Evelyn Grace Hartley, 93, Little Orleans, MD., passed away peacefully, Monday, November 14, 2022, in the comfort of her home.

Born July 4, 1929, in Flintstone, MD., she was the daughter of the late Wade and Bessie Alt Wallizer, of Flintstone, MD., and the widow of George Hartley, who passed away July 18, 2009.

After high school, she married George on June 11, 1949, and they built a life together for over 60 years. She supported her beloved family and became a pillar of the community. The love for her family and her interests were only exceeded by her faith and lifelong dedication to God's work.

She will be remembered for her countless hours of support to her church, teaching Sunday School and providing a welcome "home away from home" to local pastors, as well as missionary workers from abroad.

Her appreciation for the beauty of the earth was manifested in the beautiful flower and vegetable gardens she tirelessly maintained for others to enjoy. More meals than can possibly be counted were prepared with her hands and the bounty of the Hartley farm.

She is survived by four children, Steve Hartley, and wife, Dianna, Lois Akers, and husband Larry, David Hartley, and Andrew Hartley, and wife, Courtney; eleven grandchildren, Travis, Krista, Timothy, Mark, Jodi, Philip, Ethan, Rachel, Joshua, Jordan and Sam; three great-grandchildren Emalyn, Anneliese, and Samuel; and a sister, Eleanor Baranski.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wallizer, and a sister, Betty J. Wallizer.

Family will receive friends, Monday, November 21, 2022, 6-8 pm at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St, Hancock, MD. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, November 22, 2022, 11:00 am. Rev. Reuben Rinker will officiate. Interment will follow at Piney Plains United Methodist Cemetery, 12708 Faith Circle, NE., Little Orleans, MD.
