He was born Aug. 7, 1963, in Hollywood, Calif., to Raymond and Carol (Ellis) Canfield.
He was a punch press operator at Tellenar Crystal Lake for six years. Before that, he worked for Sears.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1980 to 1984.
He was a die-hard and loyal Cubs fan. After a disabling injury, he found many comforting hours with his dog, Sammy, who was his constant companion wherever he went.
He is survived by a son, Joshua Canfield of Schiller Park; his mother, Carol Johnson of Morganfield, Ky.; a sister, Becky (Mike) Gentile of St. Charles; two brothers, Peter (Jean) Canfield of Hebron and Stephen (Amanda) Canfield of Harvard; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew; and his stepfather, Garrett Johnson.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home, 9625 Main St., Hebron.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home. The Rev. Paul Gerardy will officiate.
Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodstock.
