Catherine "Kate" (née Lowber) Temple Christman

Catherine "Kate" Lowber was born in Kent County, Delaware, in 1823, to John and Margaret Lowber, however she was raised in New York.

Catherine "Kate" Lowber and Governor William Temple were married on August 4, 1852, in Alexandria VA. Governor Temple was a widower. The marriage was recorded in New York records on August 12, 1852. Some sources say it was in Arlington VA, but the Alexandria newspapers said it was in their city. They had 2 sons, John Clayton Temple and Robert Lowber Temple, and she was a stepmother to William George Temple. She appeared in the census in 1860 in Duck Creek Hundred, Kent County, DE, where the couple resided in Smyrna DE.

After some years of widowhood, Catherine "Kate" Lowber and Major Charles H Christman were married in New Jersey. Catherine appeared in the census in June 1880 in Camden NJ. They had a daughter, Florence Ethel Christman, and she was a stepmother to Henry Christman.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Lowber Temple, and her stepson, William George Temple. She is survived by her son, John Clayton Temple; her daughter, Florence Ethel (née Christman) Denys; and her stepson, Henry Christman.
