WOODBURN John E. Dangel, 72, of 1440 Astor Way, was dead on arrival at a Portland hospital after collapsing of an apparent heart attack at his home Friday.

A native of South Dakota, he came here four years ago. He was a member of St. Luke s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, VFW, Veterans of World War I, the Brotherhood of Railroad Telegraphers and the Retired Railroad Employees Association.

Surviving are his widow, Regina, Woodburn; two sons, Fredrick, Tucson, Ariz., and William, Kirkland, Wash.; four daughters, Rosemary Kundert, Seattle, Wash., Elizabeth Miedwig, Chicago, 111., Sister Evelyn Dangel, Mankato, Minn., and Genevive McKeowin, Protivin, Iowa; a sister, Elizabeth Smith, Seattle, and 25 grandchildren.

Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Ringo-Cornwell Funeral Chapel and mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Luke's Catholic Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Heart Fund.
