Co. E. 19 N. Y. Cav.
George enrolled in the military August 9, 1862, at Independence, New York for a period of 3 years. He was mustered into service September 3, 1862 at Portage Station, New York as a private Co. E. 19th Regiment N. Y. Cavalry. (1st New York Dragoons) He was honorably discharged as a Private June 3, 1865, at Washington D.C. He was wounded in action at Yellow Tavern, Virginia May 11, 1864 and spent the remainder of his service recuperating at Point Lookout Hospital Maryland.
