E. Grant Cummings, Jr. 85, formerly of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 15, 2011 in Green Valley, AZ.

He was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Chicago, IL, the son of E. Grant Cummings, Sr. and Dorothy Margaret-Mary (Franck) Cummings. He was raised and schooled in Delavan, WI and joined the Navy in 1944.
On Sept 11, 1948, Grant married Lois Stevens at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Delavan, WI. This past September they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

After 1 ½ years at Layton School Of Art in Milwaukee he transferred to the Art Center School Of Art in Los Angeles. After 2 ½ years there he was offered a full scholarship to continue advanced study in illustration and painting. Due to growing family obligations he was unable to take advantage of that opportunity and returned to Wisconsin. Grant retired from Nasco in 1988 after 25 years and they moved to Arizona to enjoy retirement. Grant's hobby of portrait and wildlife painting was enjoyed and admired by many. He was a past member of Fort Atkinson Lion's Club and Jefferson County Pony & Horse Association, and an avid Packer fan.

Survivors include his wife, Lois G. Cummings of Green Valley, AZ; a son, Gary (Madeline) of Houston TX, and two daughters, Colleen (Tom) Sabel of Fond du Lac, WI; and Patty (Paul) Beran, Whitewater, WI. Five grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Bob & Sally Cummings, Tucson, AZ and a sister; Katie Cummings, Gurnee, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
