Former Senator W. C. Irwin Died Thursday
Succumbs to Long Illness at His Home in Jefferson City Funeral Services Held Saturday Afternoon From Christian Church in the Capital City(,) and Burial (was in) Riverview Cemetery
Attorney William C. Irwin, former state senator, and widely known lawyer, died at his home in Jefferson City Thursday,10 June, following a long illness.
Col. Irwin was stricken eighteen months ago and never again entered his law offices. He rallied for a short time and appeared to be on the road to recovery when he suffered a stroke. About a week ago, pneumonia developed, and all hope of recovery was abandoned.
He underwent an operation several years ago, and while it prolonged his life, he was never again the strudy(sturdy), robust figure of the old days.
He was 73 years old.
His widow is confined to the hospital with a broken ankle and was unable to attend the funeral.
Attorney Irwin was well known here, having practiced in the Circuit Court of Miller county for many years. Not only was he a lawyer of state-wide reputation, but an influential leader in the Republican party.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Christian Church in Jefferson City, of which he was a member, and interment was in the Riverview Cemetery.
