Mabel Violet Reed, 83, died Tuesday afternoon, Aug 5, 1986, at Westbrook Manor Nursing Home at Parsons, where she had been a resident since October 1985. She was a former longtime Chetopa area resident before moving to Erie in 1984.
She was born Sept 28, 1901, at Kansas City, MO., to William Henry and Loretta (Scrogham) Nation. She was married to Alvin Reed on June 20, 1921, at Mound City, MO. He died May 6, 1981.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Chetopa.
Survivors include: two sons, Charley and William, both of Welch, Okla.; five daughters, Leigh Hubert of San Francisco, Lorene George, Goldie Addis, both of Oswego, Aliene Padgett of Harrison, Ark., and Mildred Benthin of Erie; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Sperry-McConnell-Bath Funeral Home of Chetopa with the Rev. Jim Hannebohn officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Chetopa.
The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church of Chetopa.

NOTE: Had one son, Clifford Ray Reed, who died in Flagstaff, Coconino, Arizona from a ruptured, gangreous appendix in 1929. No information on the cemetery he is buried in.
