NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mrs. Maude Leonard Christian, 81, of 907 Old Edgefield Road, died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home with Richard A. Culler officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park, Augusta.
Mrs. Christian, a native of Salley, had lived in North Augusta for 35 years. She had retired from Graves Refrigeration Inc. as a bookkeeper. She was a Jehovah's Witness.
Her family said, ``Her elegance and dignity were surpassed only by her compassionate heart and devotion to her loved ones.''
Survivors include two sons, Robert Christian, Charleston, and John
B. Christian Sr., North Augusta; a brother, Lawrence Leonard, Rock Hill; a sister, Merle Danforth, North Augusta; and nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be James Pough, Henry Garner, Robert Burns, Louis Goffey, Charles Devine Jr. and Bobby Lowman.
